He graduated as an Industrial Engineer in Pontificia, the Catholic University of Chile. He started working in SQM in 1969 as a consultant in the financial area and he served as Financial Manager and Vice President of Corporate Services from 1994 until 2018. In January 2019 he assumed the position of General Manager of the company.

He is a Civil Industrial Engineer from Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile, and also holds an MBA from the same university. He joined SQM Iodine Plant Nutrition in 2007 as Head of Logistic Projects, and after two years, he assumed the position of Regulatory Affairs Manager. In 2010 he became Assistant Manager of Development and after two years, he took over as Manager of Development and Planning. In 2016, he headed the Vice Presidency of Development and Planning, and during the last quarter of 2018, he became Senior Vice President of Lithium and Iodine Business, a position he will hold until December 2021, when he took over as Executive Vice President of the Iodine and Nitrates Division.

Mr. Aguirre holds a law degree from Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile and a Master of Law degree from Georgetown University. Prior to joining SQM Iodine Plant Nutrition, he worked as a lawyer at SunEdison, as a legal officer for Latin America, and at AES Gener, where he worked on corporate and project matters. Before practicing corporate law, Mr. Aguirre worked at Carey, Paul Hastings (as a foreign counsel) and Vial y Palma law firms, where he focused his practice on corporate and financial matters. He is admitted to practice law in Chile and has been admitted to practice in Washington, D.C. as well, working as a special legal consultant. He joined SQM Iodine Plant Nutrition in April 2016 and has served as Vice President of Legal Affairs since September 2016.

He is a Civil Industrial Engineer from Pontificia, the Catholic University of Chile. He has an MBA from Goizueta Business School, Emory University, USA. Gerardo joined SQM Iodine Vegetal Nutrition in 2006 and since then he has undertaken different positions in the areas of Finance, not only in Chile but also abroad. He is also a member of the directory of Soquimich Comercial and since 2018 he works as Vice President of Corporate Finances and CFO.
